Video playlist! 4/48/13

Lets face it; We live in a world where the music channels never play music. Where do we turn when we’re Jones-ing for a fix? Not to the boob-tube of old, but the internet of course! Here is a quick video playlist of great music with great music videos to sooth the savage beast. If you were looking for Real World vs. Jersey Shore, you’ve come to the wrong place…

Unleash the Archers – General of the Dark Army

This video starts with old metal standbys: Guys playing electric guitars in the woods looking brutal, fantasy Game of Thrones/Lord of the Rings characters etc. then BOOM! A beautiful woman with some the the best vocals in melodic metal. Question: Is there anything greater than a fantastic lady vocalist pulling off the “metal claws” while singing? If there is I can’t think of it right now… This is probably the video I’ve been watching the most lately. It is ADDICTIVE. Whether I’m in the mood for power metal, melodic death, etc, there is a bit of every spice in this band… and it is tasty.

Nekrogoblikon – No One Survives

This video is pretty hilarious. I’d go so far as to say that this is the funniest Metal video of 2012. It features a goblin doing everyday things like: working in an office, pining over a cute girl, smoking pot, getting screwed over by Brad, and getting shots from Jon Lajoie (who’s very super famous). I only wish I could have seen this a little sooner so I could get their “FUCK BRAD!” T-shirt before it sold out.

Municipal Waste – You’re Cut Off

This primitive, action filled animated video packs everything my teenage self would want in a video in about a minute and a half. The ultraviolence perfectly matches the punky trash music and (while surely immature) is a lot of fun and screams the 90’s.

HAVOK – From the Cradle to the Grave

The newest video in my playlist rotation, proving thrash can still be quite relevant. This isn’t the most over the top cinematic video, but it showcases the technical execution of the band. In a world where our thrash forefathers are letting us down it’s great to see fresh faces breathing life into the sub-genre.

Pig Destroyer – The Diplomat

Grindcore masters Pig Destroyer have found a way to perfectly capture their sonic sound in a visual medium. This trippy, gory display is equal parts humor, intrigue, and machismo. The aspect that MAKES this video is the color pallet. Bottom line: A perfect backdrop to the music.

Between the Buried and Me – Astral Body

I saved this one for last because it is by far and away the most thought provoking and visually stunning of the videos listed. It’s another great example of a band taking their sound and giving it a visual counterpart. This comes from one of 2012 best albums and the video stacks up. It’s definitely a video that benefits from the HD format and is truly a stunning experience.

Hope you guys enjoy a taste of my video playlist. If you have more great videos (metal or otherwise) feel free to post them at The Official AG Zero Facebook page.

Respect the vest,
